Night Music ~ First Lady Michelle Obama Carpool Karaoke

Found For Friday

A man in his 40's bought a new BMW and was out on the interstate for a nice evening drive. The top was down, the breeze was blowing through what was left of his hair and he decided to open her up. As the needle jumped up to 80 mph, he suddenly saw flashing red and blue lights behind him. "There's no way they can catch a BMW," he thought to himself and opened her up further. The needle hit 90, 100.... Then the reality of the situation hit him. "What the hell am I doing?" he thought and pulled over. The cop came up to him, took his license without a word and examined it and the car.

"It's been a long day, this is the end of my shift and it's Friday the 13th. I don't feel like more paperwork, so if you can give me an excuse for your driving that I haven't heard before, you can go."

The guy thinks for a second and says, "Last week my wife ran off with a cop. I was afraid you were trying to give her back."

"Have a nice weekend," said the officer.

If I've told you once, I've told you a billion times - don't exaggerate.

Two needles of different length will never see eye to eye.

The skeleton was trying tibia little humerus.

Just read that 4,153,237 people got married last year.
Not to cause any trouble, but shouldn't that be an even number?

Night Music ~ René Blom: Sonata IV in C Major (1978) for Alto Recorder & Basso Continuo

"What the World Needs Now" performed by Celebrities at DNC

Throwback Thursday

This is from the 1906 "Bomb" with my Grandfather's photo.  It is hard to read.  He was a Veterinary.  It says he "Used to be fierce, but is now a pretty quiet fellow.

Granddad had a temper...(Irish you know) and I can remember him setting me down and giving me a talking about about my temper (Irish you know) - He said that it had cost him some jobs until he got it under control.  I never saw him do or say anything which would show that he had a temper until one time......I said something to my grandmother which made her cry.  I never was hit but I can still remember the reaming out that I got and I still feel the shame of making her cry.  ---  I have tears now when I think about it.

Here is the quote about him....

A man’s best things are nearest him,

Lie close about his feet.

Richard Monckton Milnes, 1st Baron Houghton

Then Ginny found another picture of my great-uncle who was also my Grandmother's Brother and so I guess that will make him a double uncle..  Here is picture

"Who knows before his life may end
"What his share may be of care, man?"--Burns
Ho good people! here is Vet. that took to fussing and
it proved fatal. The records show that he has the matrimonial
bureaus "skinned to death" for a speedy courtship.
Moral to G. and D. S. fiends:  If you want things to move, just glom on to a Vet.

There is a poem which Uncle Jean wrote about my Granddad. -  I think there was written about Granddad about Uncle Jean but I don't know what happened to it.

J.R. Underwood: D.V.M.

Professor Cole, who in is lecture is full of theories and conjectures.
Convinces us that it’s no trick to cure poor piggy when he’s sick.
“Why if his breath is coming fast, as if each one would be the last.
Give him some good strong stimulant and rub his snout with the liniment”.
Or if on Dobbins neck should grow a good old fashioned this plow.
Don’t think that death is growing near; just pour some urine in his ear.
“There’s quality to that, there’s class. It’s better yet to add some glass”.
At diagnosis he is there, can track each symptom to its lair.
Combine them all, make a disease, he does it gracefully with ease.
Just like that, he can guard the City meat supply; can operate on Fido’s eye
Can treat the chicken when they’re sick, he understands the fever stick.
He’s getting by, he knows the game, he knows what makes the horses lame.
He don’t need any boosts or pull, for when it doubt he throws the bull.
It’s also great to hear him rant about that College serum plant.
Not if this “expert” only knew half of the damage that they do.
He’d put for sale sign on the door and stop making serum evermore.
It seems as though they really can’t make serum in that plant.
I don’t understand there’s something wrong,
The virus is weak and the serum  ain’t  strong.
It’s been that way for a year or two and its raising Hell now I tell you.
They ought to “can” this Doctor Cole and put a real Vet in control.
One that is able wise and good, I’d recommend Doc Underwood.
The moral of this little poem
I hope you will all take home.
If you should own a healthy pig
Keep it away from red-haired “Dig”.

Written by Dr. Jean R. Underwood D.V.M. about his brother-in-law Dr. Clarence Gordon Cole “Dig.

Night Music ~ Firefall - Dolphin's Lullaby

Michelle Obama’s Speech

Toad Tales

From Wikipedia.

Pudús are the world's smallest deer, with the southern pudú being slightly larger than the northern pudú. It has a stocky frame supported by four short and slender legs. It is 32 to 44 cm (13 to 17 in) high at the shoulder and up to 85 cm (33 in) in length. Pudús normally weigh up to 12 kg (26 lb), but the highest recorded weight of a pudú is 13.4 kg (30 lb). Pudús have small, black eyes, black noses, and rounded ears ... Sexual dimorphism in the species includes an absence of antlers in females. Males have short, spiked antlers that are not forked, as seen in most species of deer. The antlers, which are shed annually, can extend from 6.5 to 7.5 cm (2.6 to 3.0 in) in length and protrude from between the ears. Also on the head are large preorbital glands. Pudús have small hoovesdewclaws, and short tails about 4.0 to 4.5 cm (1.6 to 1.8 in) in length when measured without hair. Coat coloration varies with season, sex, and individual genes. The fur is long and stiff, typically pressed close to the body, with a reddish-brown to dark-brown hue. The neck and shoulders of an aged pudú turn a dark gray-brown in the winter.
...

Habitat and distribution

Male southern pudú; Los Lagos Region
The pudú inhabits temperate rainforests in South America, where the dense underbrush and bamboo thickets offer protection from predators. Southern Chile, south-west Argentina, Chiloé Island, and northwest South America are home to the deer. The northern pudú is found in the northern Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, from 2,000 to 4,000 m (6,600 to 13,100 ft) above sea level. The southern species is found in the slope of the southern Andes from sea level to 2,000 m (6,600 ft).
The climate of the pudú's habitat is composed of two main seasons: a damp, moderate winter and an arid summer.
...
The pudú is a solitary animal whose behavior in the wild is largely unknown because of its secretive nature. Pudús are crepuscular, most active in the morning, late afternoon, and evening. Their home range generally extends about 16 to 25 ha (40 to 62 acres), much of which consists of crisscrossing pudú-trodden paths. Each pudú has its own home range, or territory. A single animal's territory is marked with sizable dung piles found on paths and near eating and resting areas. Large facial glands for scent communication allow correspondence with other pudú deer. Pudús do not interact socially, other than to mate. An easily frightened animal, the deer barks when in fear. Its fur bristles and the pudú shivers when angered

Night Music ~ Lyle Lovett - North Dakota

Molly (and Todd) on Monday

Guess what,  Jon and Liz came.

They are here getting married next Saturday.  They are using B G's car so we are without transportation but BG went to the grocery story and we should have enough to eat.

BG bought big bags of treats so we will all have those and he also has a big of regular food so we should be all right.

They spent some time with Cassise.  We are all worried about her.

She cried when they left.  Now she is back to sleeping all day and coming out to eat and drink.  B G is sad to see her in this way.  He said her birthday in September --09/01/1998 -  So she has been with us a long time.

She is really Jon's cat but she has been living with BG and me for a long time.

BG and Jon and Liz went out to eat for lunch.  They went to Battlecry.. They liked it.

Here is a link to their Facebook page.  Here
BG made the pictures of Liz and Jon but you can click on them to embiggen them

BG took some "artsy" pictures with the lens in his camera fogging down.

Todd was chewing on a stick.

Here is one of our Wrens peeking out of the hole in the house.

BG thinks she (or he) is feeding the babies now.
Here a couple of pictures (artsy again)

And one more of Todd

And one of our weeds.  BG also made us some movies.  The first and second are short but the third is longer.

Thanks for stopping by to see us.

WOOF!

Night Music ~ Everly Brothers - All I Have To Do Is Dream (1958

Apiarian

"Were I to be the founder of a new sect,
I would call them Apiarians, and, after the example of the bee,
advise them to extract the honey of every sect."
- Thomas Jefferson

… the human task is to journey through an ever-changing world, trying to be faithful to the meaning of God as we, with our limited vision, perceive that meaning. We do not possess God, we do not possess God’s truth no matter what our religious authority claims suggest. So we do not worry about those who believed the things that we today reject. That is ultimately God’s business and God has a way of being non-judgmental that is far greater than that found in those who claim to be “true believers.”
~  John Selby Spong
